WSB 011 Practical Cost Benefit Analysis
 Description
A Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) is a structured method of quickly and concisely showing the costs and benefits of making a change with an emphasis on the quantifiable impact of making that decision. The course follows the methodology of the “US Army Cost Benefit Analysis Guidebook” with helpful hints and more detailed guidance on what to expect and how to avoid the most common failings. The office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army, Cost Estimating (DASA-CE) has reviewed and approved the course as meeting the intent of the CBA creation process that they will be evaluating proposals against. This course is very hands-on with more than half the time allotted to analyzing and working through examples and exercises. The majority of the exercises and examples come from unmodified, real world submissions to Army HQ that fell short of the ideal submission. We look at what was submitted, why it was flawed and what it would take to get it back on track. The course culminates in teams building a CBA that mimics a well-done, real submission. This is not a math course; it is a process building course. There is some math involved, but the emphasis is on the thought process that needs to be used to create an organized and coherent package.
