Description
Explores how to apply reliability and maintainability models commonly used by DoD weapons system contractors to the design and development of equipment and systems.
Objectives
  • Distinguish discrete distributions from continuous distributions; and when to use them.
  • Distinguish reliability allocation from reliability prediction.
  • Understand the distinction between a reliability growth program and reliability qualification testing.
  • Learn a Test-Analyze-and-Fix process for planning and tracking a reliability growth program.
  • Recognize the concept of decision risk and the value of a statistical test plan in reliability qualification testing (RQT).
  • Understand the development of O.C. (operating characteristic) curves.
  • Understand the use of relevant Military Handbooks for reliability testing.
  • Target Attendees
    This course is suitable for serious beginners and will bring students to an intermediate or advanced state. The teaching technique is informal lecture utilizing a Socratic approach to learning. Students should bring a calculator.
