Description
THIS COURSE WILL RETIRE AND BE REPLACED BY BCF 130 DURING THE 2ND QUARTER FY17

Professionals are introduced to policies and techniques that are used for the preparation of system cost estimates, including DoD estimating requirements and guidance, estimate use and structure, analogy estimates, parametric estimating, improvement curves, inflation, risk, and economic analysis. Through practical exercises, professionals gain the opportunity to apply the policies and techniques to real-world examples.

Target Attendees
DoD employees responsible for the preparation of materiel system cost estimates. It is also beneficial for individuals who use information from life cycle cost estimates, supervise cost estimators, prepare budgets based on life cycle cost estimates, manage acquisition programs, evaluate and negotiate contract proposals, or want to learn cost-estimating basics.
Prerequisite(s)
  • ACQ 101, Fundamentals of Systems Acquisition Management
  • Professionals need competence in algebra equal to a second-year high school algebra course. (A basic math tutorial CLC 024, Basic Math Tutorial is available under our list of continuous learning courses to assist)
  • Knowledge and use of a calculator that has natural logarithms, exponentiation, and an inverse key
