WSB 014 Intermediate Acquisition Financial Management

Description
Member of an acquisition program office’s financial management team need a breadth of knowledge across many, but linked, disciplines, such using earned value as a tool to evaluate aspects of budget execution, which may project a funding shortfall which may lead to programmatic or financial solutions. This targeted training uses lecture, discussion, team and individual exercises to refresh and reinforce the financial manager’s role within an acquisition program management office. It is designed as an intermediate learning opportunity after taking BCF 103 but before taking BCF 225. It may be taken before or after BCF 220. The exercises are designed to have students interpret basic information, e.g., facts, and apply it to scenarios to determine meaning, impact and solutions.
Objectives
  • Review and reinforce Budget Formulation and Submission through: Appropriation Funding Policies; Budget Exhibits; Budget Marks (reductions)
  • Review and reinforce Budget Execution through: Fiscal Law; Earned Value; Obligations and Expenditures Aging Funds
  • Target Attendees
    Anyone whose position is coded DAWIA Level 2 in the Business Financial Management or Cost Estimating career track AND desires to reinforce the materials in the prerequisites before taking the Level 2 Acquisition Business Management course.
