Consumer Price Index

February 15, 2017
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 0.6 percent in January after rising 0.3 percent in December. Employment Cost Index

January 31, 2017
Compensation costs increased 0.5 percent for civilian workers, seasonally adjusted, from September 2016 to December 2016. Over the year, compensation rose 2.2 percent, wages and salaries are up 2.3 percent, and benefits rose 2.1 percent.Full text: (HTML) (PDF) (Charts)

Employment Situation

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 227,000 in January, and the unemployment rate was little changed at 4.8 percent. Job gains occurred in retail trade, construction, and financial activities.Full text: (HTML) (PDF) (Charts)

Producer Price Index 

February 14, 2017
The Producer Price Index for final demand increased 0.6 percent in January. Final demand prices rose 0.2 percent in December and 0.5 percent in November. Productivity and Costs

February 08, 2017
Productivity increased 1.3 percent in the nonfarm business sector in the fourth quarter of 2016; unit labor costs increased 1.7 percent (seasonally adjusted annual rates). In manufacturing, productivity increased 0.7 percent and unit labor costs increased 3.3 percent. Full text: (HTML) (PDF)

Real Earnings

February 15, 2017
Real average hourly earnings decreased 0.5 percent in January, seasonally adjusted. Average hourly earnings increased 0.1 percent, and CPI-U increased 0.6 percent. Real average weekly earnings decreased 0.4 percent over the month. Full text: (HTML) (PDF)

U.S. Import and Export Price Indexes

February 10, 2017
U.S. import prices advanced 0.4 percent in January following a 0.5-percent increase in December. For both months, a rise in fuel prices more than offset declining nonfuel prices.
