Overview: The IT Maintenance process can be decomposed into specific and discrete phases. Each phase requires different activities and skill sets, as outlined below:
Modeling Approach Employed: In detailing the IT Maintenance Process Phases, the following modeling approach will be advocated.
Each phase of the software maintenance cycle has its process the basic process model, depicted above, shows the process having input, control, output, and associated process(es).
Input: activities or items that initiate this process.
Control: prescribed activities or documents that provide a measurement of conformance to the process.
Output: Activities or items that are evidence that a process was performed.
Associated process: refers to an external process or processes that are defined in other standards; i.e., software quality assurance (SQA), software configuration management (SCM), and verification and validation (V&V). The term associated processes also refers to the process illustrated.
