- The Fort Smith Federal Court for the Western District of Arkansas, which presided over Indian Territory, employed over a thousand men, and a few women as Deputy U.S. Marshals, a job that was dangerous and not well paid. It was these lawmen who were tasked with capturing and returning fugitives to "Hanging" Judge Parker. Here is an oath of one of the few women who served, Rosina H. Todd.

- On this day in 1968, Apollo 7, the first manned Apollo mission, was launched with astronauts Wally Schirra, Donn Fulton Eisele, and R. Walter Cunningham aboard. It was also the first three-person U.S. space mission.
- On this day in 1892, the infamous Dalton gang met resistance with the townspeople in Coffeyville, KS as they attempted to rob two banks. Four of the five bandits were killed in the skirmish.

With Bonnie and Clyde's guns receiving lots of attention lately, we thought it timely to share more of the records showing what made Bonnie and Clyde household names! Dallas Criminal Case 8250 is chalk full of details of the infamous duo's crime spree. If you would like to receive digitized copies of these images, please send us a request at ftworth.archives@nara.gov.- Today is National Voter Registration Day. Here are a few documents from Smith v. Allwright, a civil case (645) out of the Southern District of Texas that precedes the 1965 Voting Right Act. The ruling helped African Americans' civil rights by outlawing the “white primary” in southern states.
