Digital Government Strategy at the NRC
On May 23, 2012, President Obama issued a Presidential Memorandum, entitled "Building a 21st Century Digital Government." This launched a comprehensive Digital Government Strategy, which is intended to ensure that Federal agencies serve the public effectively by making the best possible use of emerging technologies. This strategy recognizes that the American people expect to be able to interact with their government anytime, anywhere, and on any device. As a result, Federal agencies must ensure they can live up to these ever-increasing customer demands.

NRC's Open Government High-Value Dataset Identification Process
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC's) Open Government High-Value Dataset Identification and Submission Process provides the overall vision and objectives for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory NRC's Open Government (OG) dataset identification and submission process and the key requirements to address these objectives. As a regulatory agency whose processes and decisions are captured primarily in the form of documents, the NRC views its documents as its highest value data. The agency has made its documents available in widely used format for the public's view. The High-Value Dataset inventory will be updated quarterly in accordance with the Open Government High-Value Dataset Identification and Submission Process and the following schedule. |

The NRC's Open Data point of contact will provide a data call template containing required metadata to NRC Offices and partner offices. Office open data representatives must complete the template and submit it along with datasets and data dictionaries for each dataset. The Open Data POC reviews datasets for completeness and accuracy with the agency's Data.gov POC. After the review, the Open Data POC submits the public data listing (.xls and .json), datasets, and data dictionaries to the agency's Web Services Content Group for publication. *Dates are NLT dates. Data may be submitted earlier. |

NRC's Common Baseline Plan
The Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA) was enacted on December 19, 2014. FITARA is the first major rewrite of the laws governing Federal information technology (IT) since the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996. To assist agencies with the implementation of FITARA, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issued Memorandum M-15-14, "Management and Oversight of Federal Information Technology," on June 10, 2015. Attached to the memorandum was the "Common Baseline for IT Management," which provides guidance on the roles and responsibilities of the agency Chief Information Officer (CIO) and other Senior Agency Officials for the management of IT in the areas of IT budget formulation and execution, acquisition and workforce. The memorandum directed each CFO Act agencies to conduct a self-assessment that identifies current conformity with the Common Baseline for IT Management (referred to as the Common Baseline) and any areas in need of improvement to ensure that all Common Baseline responsibilities are implemented.
The NRC's Common Baseline Plan was approved by OMB on January 14, 2016. To continuously mature its IT management and as required by OMB, the NRC will monitor the progress of its implementation plan, refine its processes, as appropriate, and perform a self-assessment annually by April 30th each year. The status of the actions and milestones in the implementation plan will be reported quarterly to OMB and posted below.

Customer Feedback Process
The NRC has established digital engagement mechanisms (Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, and Blog) to establish open communication and engage the public. Please see the 'Stay Connected' section of the NRC's homepage to access these mechanisms. The public may use our digital engagement mechanisms to provide feedback on NRC datasets, share 'success stories', recommend data for release, or provide other information to help us assess the impact of our datasets.
