Hello there! I'm trying to put this data into a relevant, consumer-facing app I'm working on via the API but can't quite shape it the way I want to. I'm hoping to grab the value of % change of Coal consumption in US vs. % change in my state, NY, to be able to say "NY's consumption of coal decreased by XX% while in the US it only decreased by YY%, with the values XX and YY pulled programmatically by state. Am using this query to no avail: http://api.eia.gov/series/?api_key=[API key removed]&series_id=COAL.CONS_TOT.US-98.A%3BCOAL.CONS_TOT.NY-98.A&relation_mode=line&analysis=indexpct Can you please let me know which query I should be using? The API documentation isn't very clear on the matter. Thanks!

Thank you for the interactive map of coal mines, plants, etc. It's really easy to use and very useful.
09/20/2016 - North Carolina, United States
When you introduced this tool in 2014, it was advertised that "Users can also see the shipment data from individual mines that deliver coal to the U.S. electric power fleet. The map above shows shipments data in 2012 from the Black Thunder mine, by primary transportation type and the average delivered price per ton to power plants in the electric power sector. Users also have the ability to track supplies delivered to a given power plant and to see which mines serve each particular plant." I have previously used this functionality but can't seem to figure out how to do this again, is this kind of info no longer available? Please advise. source: http://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.cfm?id=15291#tabs_SpotPriceSlider-1

The "Jet #2 Stripping" anthracite operation is shown on the map as being in Broome or Tioga County, NY. The data says it is in Schuykill County, PA
07/11/2016 - Ohio, United States
I am confused by the browser. In some cases it has the most current data available, and in some it seems to be considerably delayed. I am almost always concerned with long term trends that include the most recent data possible. If it is not in the browser, is there any way to indicate where to find it?
03/21/2016 - United Kingdom
I am from UK and using this data for research. It is a good resource, however, i am struggling to understand what it means. Do you have description of the search terms and what it means. After going through all the UK and EU statistics, this looks completely different and puzzling. An explanation for each table will be sweet.
12/19/2015 - Florida, United States
Why, oh why, do you not have coal data past 2013? This is a major flaw
10/25/2015 - Israel
Thank you for sharing the data. I am looking for historic daily coal spot prices for my dissertation. I am wondering if I can find it on this website. I appreciate your help.
10/23/2015 - France
Dear Sir or Madam, thank you very much for these really nice retrieve tool. Just once question: could you give the possibility to retrieve data before 2000 for coal export / imports ? I thank you in advance for your answer. Best regards, Thierry
02/12/2015 - Montana, United States
I could not seem to find the figures I wanted. I wanted to know where Montana coal is being shipped. Specifically, I wanted to know if Montana exports more coal tonnage than it uses.
02/06/2015 - Illinois, United States
I am trying the find the price of coal/ton for February 26, 2008 and November 22, 2007. This information is needed for tax purposes. Thanks
01/23/2015 - Pennsylvania, United States
Fantastic resource. Filters by county would be helpful.Being able to copy/download map images (as you can with graphs) would be helpful.
12/08/2014 - Pennsylvania, United States
Nice product! Note that the transportation fields are blank in the roll-over (see Hatsfield Ferry). For this plant it is all river.
07/23/2014 - Kentucky, United States
What a great resource! A few things: 1. I would like to filter by county when I am looking at the individual mine level. 2. Is there any chance to download a shapefile or csv with the mine locations (lat, long)? 3. The submit button at the bottom of this box is not there in Chrome Version 36.0.1985.125 m. I had to switch to IE 10.
06/18/2014 - California, United States
This resource is amazing -- thank you so much for putting it together! The map linkages and consistent data presentation by mine and mine type are great.
05/12/2014 - California, United States
This is a fantastic resource. Is there any chance you can include data on whether a mine is on federal, state or pvt land in a future update?
04/23/2014 - Poland
Its ok but weekly prices are missing. Would be good to have them to be able to compare directly with nat gas and crude oil wkly prices, the best would be on exact same days ....
03/13/2014 - Virginia, United States
This new coal data browser is fantastic - it's well done, it's easy to use, and it's comprehensive. Nice work!
03/07/2014 - Norway
Norway is blue, but I can't click it. I guess it should be grey?
03/06/2014 - Ohio, United States
If the data is available, I think a good addition would be to show receipts or shipments to coke plants or other large industrial users by mine/prep. plant like you do with the power plants. Same thing with the export terminals. Otherwise, this is a very user-friendly database. Thanks.
02/25/2014 - New York, United States
THe Coal data browser is nice. Will it have latest monthly/quarterly statistics when the final version rolls out?
02/25/2014 - North Dakota, United States
Your map is messed up. The Falkirk Mine is in McLean County - the map shows it in Oliver County. The Freedom Mine is in Mercer County - the map shows it in McLean County. The Beulah Mine is in Mercer County - the map shows it in McLean County. Check the mine locations - they are very far off.
