We would like to remind the maize community that under the Toronto Agreement, whole-genome research on the B104 and B73 RefGen_V4 genome assemblies may not be submitted for publication until the official B73 RefGen_V4 and B104 genome papers are published. In addition, because the current v4 gene models are preliminary and the final gene models for B73 RefGen_V4 are not yet ready, the B73 RefGen_V3 5b+ gene model annotations (with GRMZM ids) are the most stable. Therefore, we suggest that researchers who plan to publish scientific work featuring the B73 genome should use B73 RefGen_V3 until further notice.
