EVENTS & EXHIBITS

  • EXHIBIT - NOW OPEN!!!: "Countdown to Zero: Defeating Disease"
    January 11, 2017 - October 9, 2017
Only one human disease, smallpox, has ever been eradicated. But soon a second infection will join the list: Guinea worm disease, a painful and debilitating condition caused by the Guinea worm--known to many as the "fiery serpent". There is no medicine to cure Guinea worm disease and no vaccine to prevent it. Yet it can be stopped. This exhibition shows the heroic efforts throughout history to eradicate, eliminate, and control disease, including the Carter Center-led campaign to wipe out Guinea worm.

He persuasively argues that the fallout of the mutiny...was pivotal in the bitterly fought battle for the American presidency between incumbent John Adams and challenger Thomas Jefferson." --Publishers Weekly.

  • Marjorie Spruill - "Divided We Stand: The Battle Over Women's Rights and Family Values That Polarized American Politics"
    Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 7:00pm
Reading/Book Signing. Carter Presidential Library & Museum Theater. Free and Open to the Public. "In this parable of how sensible and practical paths toward broader equality get overwhelmed by threat, fear, and bigotry, historian Spruill suggests that the current political landscape of paralyzing divisiveness, hateful rhetoric, and persistent obstructionism took form in 1977, when the two women's movements of the 1970's each side purporting to represent the majority or speak for "real" American women, came to a head at the National Women's Conference in Houston." - Publishers Weekly.
