Programs offered at the Ocoee Whitewater Center are designed to give students a hands-on outdoor classroom experience. Students will learn about wildlife habitats and the diverse ecosystems within a forest environment.

We invite you and your students to visit the Ocoee Whitewater Center and participate in programs planned to be exciting, educational, and memorable.

We currently offer the following programs:

One program is $4 / child

Additional programs are $1 / child

Teachers and Aides are FREE!

Parents are $3 each

Interpretive Hike

This is an adventurous program involving an interpretive hike on the historical Old Copper Road Trail. Various stops will include animal habitats, forest communities, and nature activities. Hiking distances vary upon requests. 1/2 mile to 2 1/2 mile tours are available.

Outside Time Frame: 30 min. to 3 hrs. Ages: 5 - adults

  

Stream Exploration

Prepare to get WET! Following a brief discussion of aquatic insects, we will explore a stream in search of caddisfly larvae, water pennies, and CRAWDADS using nets and view finders!

Outside Time Frame: 1 hour All ages

 

Insect National Forest

Learn how creepy crawlies are important to us and our environment. Discover characteristics and feeding habits of some of our common insects. Go on an insect hunt in the forest with nets and bug boxes.

Outside Time Frame: 1 hour Ages: 4 and older

 

Lizard Landing

Learn to respect habitats. Learn the difference between a reptile and an amphibian. Go on a "Lizard Safari" and discuss their characteristics and feeding habits.

Life in the Forest

We go to the forest to see animals, but we do not always see the animals. How do we know they are there? Presentation includes animal tracks and scat, characteristics of various forest animals, and multiple use management techniques.
