Import prices up 0.4% in January due to higher fuel prices; export prices advance 0.1%

U.S. import prices advanced 0.4 percent in January following a 0.5-percent increase in December. For both months, a rise in fuel prices more than offset declining nonfuel prices. Prices for U.S. exports advanced 0.1 percent in January, after rising 0.4 percent the previous month.
