Mission Assistance Process

The process to obtain Mission Assistance can begin with a discussion with a member of the DAU faculty, or a telephone call or e-mail to one of the Associate Deans for Outreach and Mission Assistance listed above, to include the POC at the Defense Systems Management College, School of Program Management (DSMC/SPM) at 703-805-5196. As the request for support develops into a Consulting or Targeted Training event, DAU will gather the needed project information, scope, applicable charges, and a DD1144 Support Agreement will be prepared for both parties to sign.

For general questions concerning Mission Assistance, please contact the DAU Director of Mission Assistance at 703-805-4993.

  1. A Department of Defense activity (Command, Program Office, Field Activity, etc) desiring DAU Mission Assistance can make initial contact with a member of the DAU faculty and/or Associate Dean Outreach and Mission Assistance/Deputy Dean DSMC School of Program Management. Once the Consulting, Targeted Training or other event has been discussed and details (objective, content, schedule, scope, etc.) agreed, the DAU lead for the effort is required to initiate a Mission Assistance Request Form. (RDT presentations do not typically require the level of effort of consulting and/or Targeted Training so a MA Request Form is not usually required for RDT).
  2. The DAU lead for the effort initiates the MA Project Request Form that captures Title and brief description of the MA effort, Region, Instructor, Start Date, End Date, Location, Customer POC including Name, Activity, Phone, Email, Resources required including faculty and funding. The MA Project Request Form is submitted to the appropriate DAU ADOMA/Dean DSMC-SPM for action that includes resourcing.
  3. If an MA effort requires reimbursement to DAU for personnel and other expenses incurred, it is designated a Fee for Service (FFS) project, and a DD 1144 agreement will be signed by both parties.
  4. As part of its dedication to continuously improving outcomes and processes, DAU will survey Consulting and Targeted Training efforts. Consulting Leads will provide the customer with a URL for a survey during or after a consulting event depending on the length and scope of the effort. Targeted Training Course Instructors will provide all students in the course with a URL for a Targeted Training Survey at the end of the course.
