CJCS published a revised version of the "Manual for the Operation of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS)" in February 2015. The revised JCIDS Manual -- which implements CJCSI 3170.01 I "JCIDS" -- highlights the importance of IA&E in the formulation of DoD requirements for DoD acquisition programs. In addition to the traditional emphasis on identification of International Cooperative Program (ICP) opportunities and international standardization efforts, the revised JCIDS Manual notes that system attributes should consider "physical and operational security needs, including technology security, foreign disclosure, defense exportability features, and anti-tamper" in order to facilitate future sales and transfer to allied and friendly nations.
