Bringing DoD Personnel, Service Representatives and Industry Together
The UID & eBusiness Forum will be conducted 7-9 September 2010 in Orlando, FL. Future forums will bring together attendees, speakers and exhibitors for instruction, expert guidance and technology demonstrations. This event helps the audience to quickly sort through the technical, policy, standards and business-process details of IUID and eBusiness.

Landmark Status
The IUID Registry has reached over 2 million registered items! The 2 millionth item, a front axel embedded within the M1117 Guardian Armored Security Vehicle (ASV) was submitted by Textron Marine and Land Systems, an operating unit of Textron Inc. The IUID Registry received the information via XML submission. Textron Inc is a multi-industry company founded in 1923 with strong brands such as Bell Helicopter and Cessna Aircraft. Item Unique Identification Road Show
U.S. Army's Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) in Warren, MI, sponsored the first Item Unique Identification (IUID) Road Show. The purpose of this event was to provide an understanding of the IUID requirement at the implementation level.
The event included three phases including presentations and dialogue with audience members, training modules, and technology demonstrations. The first portion of the event was opened by Ms. Janet Bean, Executive Director Integrated Logistics Support Center, who was followed by the keynote speaker Ms. LeAntha Sumpter, Deputy Director Program Development and Implementation, DPAP. In addition, Mr. Paul Krumhaus, Principal Analyst, PM J-AIT (Joint - Automatic Identification Technology) discussed TACOM LCMC partnership; Mr. Greg Kilchenstein, OSD (AT&L) MR&MP spoke on IUID/SIM Implementation within the DoD Maintenance Enterprise; and COL Christopher Wicker, Chief of Staff TACOM LCMC, closed the presentation sessions.
The second phase consisted of 23 training modules supported by DAU, DCMA, AMCOM, and TACOM Project Offices, including the following topics: 1) Contracting 2) Program and Budget Management 3) Government Property in Possession of Contractors 4) Wide Area Workflow and 5) Logistics. Cargo Helicopters and Robotic Systems Joint Project Office also presented on the nuts and bolts of IUID implementation.
The third component consisted of technology demonstrations, including marking machines and software.
This event trained more than 600 employees onsite at TACOM and another 75 from the distant sites participating via digital television, including Ft. Belvoir, Rock Island, Natick, and ARDEC/Picatinny, NJ.
