- The DD Form 1597, Contract Closeout Checklist, must be used on all manually closed contracts as a tool for ensuring all necessary steps in the closeout process are completed. At the outset of the contract closeout process, an initial contract funds status review must be conducted and where appropriate, available excess funds identified to the PCO for deobligation.
