The goal of IT Service Management (ITSM) is to align the delivery of IT services with needs of the enterprise, emphasizing benefits to customers. ITSM is a shift from managing IT as stacks of individual components. It is focused on the delivery of end-to-end services. ITSM is process-focused and has ties and common interests with the process improvement movement (TQM, Six Sigma, Business Process Mgt, CMMI).
By implementing the ITSM best practices tailored as necessary to our situations, we stand to better our partnership with the warfighter, improve the value of our product and be more efficient stewards of the tax-payer dollar.
