SBP 102 Introduction to Small Business Programs Part B, First Offerings now Available to the Acquisition Workforce
"The first classroom offerings of the Small Business courses for the new Small Business Career Field are available for student enrollment! For FY 2017, SBP 102 Introduction to Small Business Programs Part B is offered at Ft. Belvoir VA November 28 – December 2, 2016, California MD January 9 – 13, 2017, and Huntsville AL July 10 – 14, 2017. This is a highly interactive course that accentuates the role of the Small Business Professional as they advise and provide assistance throughout the Pre-Solicitation, Solicitation and Award, and Post Award phases of the contracting process for acquisitions. Building on knowledge gained in SBP 101 Introduction to Small Business Programs Part A, an 8 hour Distance Learning module, students navigate through the various steps within the contracting phases, to expand their understanding of ways to meet mission needs by maximizing procurement opportunities for small businesses at the prime contracting and subcontracting levels.
Successful completion of SBP 101, is a prerequisite to attending SBP 102. SBP 101 provides key baseline knowledge of legislation, policies, procedures, business processes, and tools, and includes introductory information on the small business, socioeconomic, and DoD funded programs. The course also addresses the expectations of small business professionals throughout the Department to help provide an understanding of where and how they fit into the Defense acquisition landscape.
You don't need to be a Small Business Professional (Specialist) to take the courses and it's a great way to understand the distinctiveness of the role of Small Business Professionals. I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of expanding your knowledge of the world of small business."
