Thomas “Tom” Laverghetta, a native of Syracuse, New York, reported as the Executive Director for Commander, Navy Regional Maintenance Center (CNRMC) in November 2014. Laverghetta is a 1990 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he was commissioned as a Navy Surface Warfare Officer with Engineering Duty Option and awarded a Bachelor of Science (with Honors) in Mathematics. He is also a 1998 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) XIIIA and XIIIB Programs, earning both a Naval Engineer degree and a Master of Science degree in Systems Management.

He served his initial Navy sea tours aboard the oceangoing minesweepers USS AFFRAY (MSO 511) and USS LEADER (MSO 490) where he deployed to Operation Desert Storm and served as an engineering division officer and, later, Chief Engineer for the heavy-lift and decommissioning of those MSOs. He also served as Combat Systems Officer for multiple Counter-Narcotics deployments on USS GEORGE PHILIP (FFG-12).

Following transfer to Engineering Duty Officer, he first served at the Executive Assistant to the Commanding Officer of Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity (SIMA) San Diego and went on to graduate studies at MIT. He served his industrial qualification tours at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) Ingleside, Texas, and the Ship Repair Unit (SRU) Bahrain, where he was maintenance Project Manager for the MCMs and, later, the Chief Engineer/Engineering Department Head (Code 200). A qualified docking officer, he was responsible for over 16 docking evolutions including the heavy-lift of USS RAVEN (MHC 61) and USS CARDINAL (MHC 60) from Ingleside to Bahrain, and was a technical advisor for the heavy-lift of USS COLE (DDG 67) and to the US Army for the heavy-lift of 9 service craft used in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served an industrial tour as the AOIC of SRU Naples, Italy, responsible as the Immediate Superior in Command (ISIC) and maintenance manager for the 6th Fleet Flag Ship, USS LASALLE (AGF-3).

Laverghetta has extensive financial management experience having served tours as the Fleet Maintenance Budget Officer for the Commander, U.S. Atlantic Fleet (CLF N43), a temporary assignment as a resource analyst for the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Fleet Readiness and Logistics (OPNAV N43), and served as the inaugural senior maintenance program/financial analyst for U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFF N40). He later served as the inaugural Deputy Financial Director for the Commander Regional Maintenance Center (CRMC Code 600), with world-wide responsibility for the Navy’s seven Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs). He retired from military service in 2010 as a Financial/Program Manager for Naval Sea Systems Command, Regional Maintenance Centers Division (SEA 04YF). Entering federal service, he was the Comptroller/N8 Director for the Navy Operational Logistics Support Center (NOLSC), where, among other things, he is responsible for the Navy’s $500M Service Wide Transportation (SWT) program. He then served as the Director of Corporate Operations for CNRMC. In this role he was responsible for business operations, financial management, contract management, manpower, training, and metrics across five (5) RMCs and two (2) overseas detachments.

Laverghetta's service decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (with three stars), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with two stars), the Combat Action Ribbon, and various other unit and operational awards.
