Launch of the SABC website
12/01/2017 The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is pleased to announce the launch of the South Africa Breast Cancer (SABC) study website. The SABC study is a population-based case–control study set up at the Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, South Africa, to study the etiology of breast cancer in black South African women. The study is very important because it is among the first to study specific factors, including lifestyle and dietary habits, in the black South African population that may be associated with specific subtypes of breast cancer. The aim of the study is to advance the prevention and management of breast cancer in black women in South Africa through a better understanding of the molecular, pathological, and risk factor patterns.
