GOVERNOR TOMBLIN ANNOUNCES SBA FLOOD ASSISTANCE FOR FOLLANSBEE REGION

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (August 23, 2016) - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today announced his August 16th request for a disaster declaration by the Small Business Administration (SBA) has been granted for Brooke, Hancock and Ohio counties. Businesses and residents in those counties impacted by the July 29-30 flooding will be eligible to apply for low-interest disaster loans through the SBA.
 
"I am grateful that the SBA has approved my request to provide this much-needed funding to West Virginians in our Northern Panhandle after the July flooding," Gov. Tomblin said. "These funds will play an important role as the community continues to recover."
 
SBA representatives will be available at the Disaster Loan Outreach Center to answer questions and assist with the application process. The center is located at the Follansbee City Building, 872 Main Street, Follansbee, WV 26037. The center will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with Saturday hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Thursday, August 27, at 8 a.m. to Thursday, September 1 at 3 p.m.
 
Loan application information is available through the SBA's Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 or disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
 
Applicants can apply for SBA loans online at disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.
 
Loan applications can also be downloaded at sba.gov/disaster. The deadline for loan applications for physical property damage is October 24, 2016. The deadline to return economic injury applications is May 23, 2017.
 
Additionally, Gov. Tomblin announced the West Virginia Housing Development Fund has dedicated $1.85 million from its disaster recovery accounts to current recovery efforts. The "Rebuild West Virginia" program is designed to assist residents affected by the recent flooding in Follansbee, as well as those impacted by the June flooding in Southern West Virginia.
