PEO IWS Hosts Symposium on Contracting

On Sept. 29, PEO IWS hosted its inaugural OA Contract Symposium. The Symposium was held to provide Navy contracting personnel and acquisition professionals with a forum for learning and discussing contracting issues, best practices, and "lessons learned" that help facilitate the implementation of open architecture across the Naval Enterprise. Topics of discussion included the Navy's OA Enterprise initiative, intellectual property rights, the relationship between OA and the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, OA-driven contracting practices, and large and small business perspectives on contracting to facilitate OA.

The presentations of industry speakers who participated in the Symposium are posted below. Presentations by government presenters have limited distribution and must be requested from the presenter or your domain representative.

Overall, the inaugural event for the OA Enterprise Team was a big success. Approximately 125 participants from all domains attended the event to learn more about the "business" aspect of OA and incorporating principles in our acquisition strategies and contracting documents.
