The Role of NAFA Affiliates

NAFA’s Code of Regulations defines an Affiliate as:

Any person who is not eligible for Membership in the Corporation but who has a direct interest in motor vehicle fleet administration and who supports the Corporation and subscribes to its purposes may, upon application, be designated as a “NAFA Affiliate,” or may be designated as a “NAFA Regional Affiliate” provided that another person employed by the same firm or other entity as the applicant is already and continues to be a NAFA Affiliate…The Affiliate shall be the individual meeting the eligibility requirements herein set forth and not the said individual’s employer. The designation of “NAFA Affiliate” may be used only by the Corporation in connection with its activities and functions for such times and purposes as the Board of Trustees may deem advisable.

Affiliates are encouraged to participate in the Association through these methods, and others:

  • Members may elect one Affiliate to serve on the Board of Trustees.
  • A NAFA Affiliate may participate in NAFA activities and functions as the Board of Trustees may from time to time determine.
  • The Affiliate segment of NAFA has representation on the national Board of Governors through the permanent Affiliates Committee.  Leaders of the national Affiliates Committee must be NAFA Affiliates or Regional Affiliates in good standing. The national Affiliates Committee is comprised of Affiliates and/or Regional Affiliates selected by the Affiliate Committee itself.
  • NAFA Affiliates and Regional Affiliates may serve as Vice-Chair of any NAFA’s national committees. Vice-Chairs are appointed by the NAFA President, in consultation with the Board of Trustees.
  • Affiliates and Regional Affiliates serving on the Board of Governors are able to vote on issues and motions before the Board of Delegates. The vote count of Members and Affiliates is tallied separately.
  • Affiliates and Regional Affiliates may serve as participants on any national committee except the Audit Committee. Participation on committees is at the discretion of the Committee Chair and the NAFA President.
  • The Affiliate segment of NAFA has representation on the local Chapters through the mandatory Affiliates Committee. Leaders of chapter Affiliates Committees must be NAFA Affiliates or Regional Affiliates in good standing. Leaders of chapter Affiliates Committee are appointed by the Chapter Chair and approved by the Chapter Governing Board. Chapter Affiliates Committees are comprised of volunteers from the Affiliate and Regional Affiliate ranks.
  • Affiliates may be invited to make presentations or be featured speakers at NAFA’s Institute and Expo, within legal limits such as anti-trust restrictions.
  • Affiliates are also key participants in all of NAFA’s I & E planning committees: Curriculum Committee, Steering Committee, Arrangements Committee and Exhibitor Advisory Board.
  • Affiliates may be invited to make presentations or be featured speakers at NAFA’s local chapters, within legal limits such as anti-trust restrictions.
  • NAFA Affiliates may instruct sections of NAFA’s Fleet Management Seminar, Advanced Fleet Management Seminars, or other educational offerings.
  • NAFA Affiliates may participate in NAFA’s Affiliate Services Database, providing them new client opportunities when fleet managers seek suppliers.
  • NAFA Affiliates may participate in educational aspects of the CAFM® program and are eligible to take the examination and be certified as a “fleet manager” should they meet the program entrance criteria.
  • NAFA Affiliates have access to all materials, resources, information, and services available through FleetED.
  • NAFA Affiliates may purchase items from NAFA at Member rates.
  • NAFA Affiliates are interviewed and featured in NAFA publications and are the source for article ideas.
  • NAFA Affiliates have authored chapters in several of NAFA’s primary publications and educational materials.
