Local Team and Developing the Protection Plan

Macon-Taylorville Strip Aquifer Source Water Protection Committee.

   Management Measures

The source water protection plan includes the following measures:

   • Created educational outreach brochures for distribution to those who live and
work within the communities' recharge areas.

   • Incorporated coverage of wells and recharge areas into the Christian and Macon
County's Geographic Information System. Provide Contingency Plans to the
Christian and Macon County Emergency Services Disaster Agencies for
        incorporation into the disaster plans.

   • Communities purchased groundwater flow models for educational purposes for
use in the schools within the communities.

   • Worked with the local Natural Resources Conservation Service and Soil & Water
Conservation Service to promote sign up for recharge area acreage into the
United States Department of Agriculture's Conservation Reserve Program.
