Registration Fees
Utah Code §41-1a-1206 and others
Each vehicle owner must pay a registration fee at the time of initial registration and annually thereafter. A six month registration option is also available for motorcycles and passenger vehicles. The fees vary depending on vehicle type, registered weight, county, and other factors. Sales & Use Taxes
Sales and use tax is imposed on the purchase of a vehicle or watercraft and is calculated using the purchase price. Purchase price should be listed on the title being transferred or on a bill of sale. To find out the current sales/use tax rate in your locality, see Utah Sales & Use Tax Rates.
Automobile Driver Education Fee
Utah Code §41-1a-1204
The fee is $2.50 upon registration of each motor vehicle, except motorcycles and vehicles with a Purple Heart plate. The fee applies to the vehicle owner or operator. For information, contact the Driver License Division, 801-965-4437.
Uninsured Motorist Identification Fee
Utah Code §41-1a-1218
The fee is $1.00 per year, upon registration of each motor vehicle, except commercial vehicle registered as part of a fleet, vehicles owned or leased by the state or its subdivisions, and vehicles registered with a Purple Heart plate.
