The National Mine Map Repository (NMMR) collects and maintains mine map information and images for the entire country, including data and maps of coal mines in the anthracite coal region of northeastern Pennsylvania. As an extension of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE), NMMR acquires maps through public outreach directed at state and federal environmental agencies as well as mining companies, engineering and consulting firms, surveying companies, universities, and private citizens. Feel free to search the NMMR's Mine Map Index with over 180,000 maps of closed and/or abandoned mines.

The National Mine Map Repository is always looking for additional mine maps. Please contact us if you have mine maps that you would permit the repository to scan and add to the collection. All physical maps are returned to the owner. See our donation page for more information.
