STEM Volunteer Training Resources
The Minorities in Energy Initiative launched a quarterly STEM Volunteer virtual training series on August 13, 2015. The trainings are intended to provide tips, resources and strategies for STEM professionals that want to volunteer.

K-MIDDLE SCHOOL
The Science of Innovation: The Science of Innovation was produced as a joint partnership between the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) and focuses on the connection between basic science research and innovation. The materials were produced in collaboration with NBC Learn, the education arm of NBC News and include lesson plans for middle and high school teachers developed by the National Science Teachers Association and aligned with state and Next Generation Science Standards.
Engineer Girl: The EngineerGirl website is designed to bring national attention to the exciting opportunities that engineering represents for girls and women. The website is a service of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).
Cool Science Careers: Middle and high school students experience what it is like to be a scientist through interactive activities and games. "Imagine Yourself" lets students virtually conduct activities from a field. Includes education requirements and interviews with scientists.
For Girls in Science: Students can read profiles of women in science, watch videos of women scientists on the job, take a career personality quip, compare career requirements in STEM fields, connect with other young women interested in STEM and find out about STEM-related contests and camps.

iON Future: This site lets you explore STEM careers, find the ones that best match your interests, and play your way to your dream STEM future. The site is sponsored by Change the Equation.
Engineer Your Life: This engineering site for high school girls includes sections on why engineering, making it happen, photos and text about women engineers, YouTube videos and blogs, plus sections for teachers and counselors.
Discover Engineering: On this site, check out reasons to love engineering, career outlooks on engineering jobs of the future, information on specific engineering jobs, and school information to prepare you to excell in your engineering career.
TEACHERS
Discovery Channel: This site has all types of resources for science, math, English, and social studies. They are divided into K-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Lesson plans include the objective, materials, procedure, evaluation methods, vocabulary and national standards. In addition to lesson plans, the site also has interactive games, puzzles, activities, contests, STEM career information, and virtual labs.
Gotta Have IT: A select set of high-quality posters, computing and IT careers information, digital media and more, the resource kit builds awareness and inspires interest in computing. Gotta Have IT is for all students, but is especially inclusive for girls.
