Dr. Margaret Chu - President, M.S. Chu+Associates, LLC
Dr. Margaret Chu is currently an independent consultant. She was the Director of the Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management at the Department of Energy (DOE) from 2002 to 2005, managing the preparation of the disposal of U.S. spent nuclear fuel and high-level waste in the Yucca Mountain repository. Prior to the DOE position, she spent 21 years in the field of nuclear waste management and risk assessment at the Sandia National Laboratories. At Sandia, she was leading the core team that successfully opened the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) repository. She currently serves on the DOE’s Nuclear Energy Advisory Committee and the National Academy of Sciences Nuclear and Radiation Studies Board.
