2016 KASB for the 3rd Quarter (April – June)

Of the 20 groups that are conducting monthly cleanups, 13 were able to submit data from April to June 2016 showing the types of trash collected from their adopted areas. The committed groups are listed below.
AS-EPA Director elected as the next Region 9 Representative on the ASTSWMO Board

AS-EPA held an Adopt-a-School clean-up at SPA and SPICC schools
The American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency (AS-EPA) recently performed clean-up and minor renovation work at the South Pacific Academy (SPA) and the South Pacific International Christian Center (SPICC) school premises. These services are part of AS-EPA’s community service commitment under the Governor’s Adopt-a-School program.
US EPA Re-Certifies AS-EPA Laboratory through 2019
The American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency (AS-EPA) announces the re-certification of its laboratory by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA).
A Certification Officer for the U.S. EPA Region 9, Mr. Andy Lincoff, recently traveled to American Samoa to administer a full, on-site evaluation of the AS-EPA laboratory. The intensive two-day review focused on general laboratory practices, analytical methodologies, sample collection, handling, and preservation, quality assurance, record keeping, response to laboratory results, laboratory personnel and facility, and data reporting.
