Family Planning

Since the 1970s, South Carolina's Family Planning has been providing high quality, low or no-cost, reproductive health care to women, men and teens. Family Planning is a public health preventive service that assists individuals in achieving their desired number and spacing of children through the provision of affordable, voluntary family planning services. Family Planning services include pap smears when indicated, contraceptive services, pregnancy testing and counseling, abstinence education, sexually transmitted infection services, preconception health services and much more.

Section 1008 of the Federal Title X regulations strictly prohibits the use of any appropriated funds in any program where abortion is provided as a method of birth control. No abortion services or activities are provided or paid for by DHEC.
