Each year, the Vehicle Technologies Office produces an overall report summarizing its Annual Merit Review, as well as annual reports for each of its six subprogram areas of research and development. These reports highlight technology improvements and other progress made towards reaching the individual subprogram's goals. The annual reports also show how these accomplishments fit into the broader context of supporting VTO's mission to develop more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly transportation technologies that enable America to use less petroleum. Additionally, some VTO initiatives, such as the EV Everywhere Grand Challenge, produce annual reports to update stakeholders on progress and milestones in reaching the initiatives' goals.
