BLM Alaska Releases Draft NPR-A Regional Mitigation Strategy
Today the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) released the draft Regional Mitigation Strategy (RMS) for the Northeastern National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska (NPR-A) and is inviting public comment on the document. By providing a robust 90-day comment period, the BLM hopes to continue working with all interested parties to develop a transparent, balanced, workable, and reasonable mitigation framework. Alaska Operator Receives Reclamation Award
The BLM today recognized three hardrock mineral companies for advancing the use of sustainable development practices in their work and one was in Alaska! Congratulations to Jubilee Mine at Prospect Creek, Alaska, winner of the Hardrock Mineral Small Operator Award. BLM releases Contaminated Lands Report; Effort Establishes Step towards Cleanup
The BLM delivered a report to Congress today that details the development and current status of the most comprehensive inventory to date of known contaminated sites on lands conveyed to Alaska Native corporations through the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). In addition, the report also provides recommendations for fully addressing cleanup of all the conveyed contaminated sites. Read more>
