Management

The National Park Service Chesapeake Bay staff works with multiple partners to manage and develop the Chesapeake Bay Gateways and Watertrails Network, the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail, and the collaborative strategies to support President Obama's Executive Order 13508 for the protection and restoration of the Chesapeake Bay.

To see the congressional legislation authorizing the Network and the trail, go to the Laws & Policies page. There, you will also find a link to the Presidential executive order for the protection and restoration of the Chesapeake Bay. You will have access to the Chesapeake Bay Special Resource Study, requested by Congress and completed in 2003.

To see documents and materials related to trail planning, public access planning, large landscape conservation collaborative activities, and youth engagement planning, visit the page labeled Park Planning.

To see a staff directory, contact information, and location of offices, go to the page titled Staff and Offices.

To see reports that summarize the key actions and accomplishments of the NPS Chesapeake Bay Office and along the Captain John Smith Chesapeake national historic trail, go to the page titled State of the Park.
