Guided Tours

Try these guided tours on the water for a unique experience on a national historic trail:

Meet up with experienced staff at Sultana Projects to sail on the Schooner Sultana or follow in one of their kayaks as they explore the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail.

NPS' non-profit partner Chesapeake Conservancy launched an initiative to train Chesapeake watermen in heritage tourism. Now, their heritage tourism website is open and ready to introduce visitors to the many opportunities for boating with a waterman. Enjoy a sunset sail aboard an historic skipjack, or try your hand at trotlining and take home some Chesapeake crabs! See the tours available here.

At Bladensburg Waterfront Park outside of Washington, DC, take a pontoon boat tour of the Anacostia River on the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail and learn about the War of 1812, the battle at Bladensburg, and why this battle was so important.

Several Chesapeake Bay Gateways and Watertrails Network partners offer tours on historic vessels. Try these:

Skipjack Martha Lewis in Havre de Grace, MD
