Partnerships
Here, a state wildlife biologist carries two black bear cubs to be released with the sow into the Lower Suwannee NWR where there is perfect habitat for them. They are being relocated from an overpopulated area to the Refuge with flatwoods, uplands, wetlands and marsh to provide a wide variety of habitat suitable for this family of bears. A strong partnership between the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and the National Wildlife Refuge System helped to facilitate such a relocation.
