We invite you to experience firsthand the magic of being outside.

IMAGINE the fun and interesting things you can learn by being a volunteer at a National Wildlife Refuge or National Fish Hatchery. Last year almost 38,000 volunteers contributed more than 1.4 million hour of their time toward conservation and environmental education. Volunteers help us in almost everything we do.  Volunteers provide their skills and energy to the reforestation effort, clean-up projects, school programs, maintenance of public facilities, trail construction, office work , wildlife monitoring, special events and much more.

Some work full-time, some just a few hours a week or month, or during a particular season or special event. Generally, no special skills are required to be a volunteer. We provide on-the-job training as needed. We try to match individual talents and skills with volunteer interests and work opportunities.

Come out, meet and work with people who want to give back to their communities, be good stewards of the land, are willing to share their  wealth of knowledge, learn more about conservation, and who enjoy the outdoors and want to spread the word about America's greatest natural treasures.
