The GreenLinks Project


If you could look ahead at our special bit of Florida in 20, 50, 100 years, what would you like to see? The future holds many possibilities! Will our grandchildren be able to live, work, and play in this same place of natural beauty and biodiversity that makes northwest Florida such a wonderful home? We know change will happen. Our hope is that with careful planning we can grow our human communities and roads while keeping our natural communities intact and healthy too. With the GreenLinks project, we have identified that essential framework of “green”, undeveloped land necessary to protect habitat, water resources, and provide linkages for wildlife.

Goals

Our goal is to have a shared vision between multiple partners to:

• Strategically protect and manage a network of conservation lands essential for sustaining the
  area’s diverse ecological functions and values;

• Provide a framework for planning future land development activities, including transportation
  projects; and

• Identify opportunities for locating parks, trails, and other green space to benefit human use.
