Here's a brief guide to the PG&E rate codes:
E1 = standard residential rate, used by over 90% of residential electric customers, tiered pricing by usage but no time of use pricing
HE1 = same as E1, with a slight tweak to the price calculation based on using actual interval data
E6 = same as E1 except has Time of Use pricing (two TOU periods in winter; three in summer) and rate factors are different
HE8 = residential seasonal tiered pricing, no Time of Use, but rates differ by summer and winter
A1 = standard small and medium business rate – no tiering, no time of use, different summer and winter rates, daily customer charge [NOTE: there is now a TOU version of A1, but it hasn’t really been made available to customers]
A6 = same as A1 except has TOU pricing (two TOU periods in winter; three in summer) and rate factors are different
A10S = medium business rate for heavier electric users – lower rate per kWh, higher fixed charges, no TOU
AG5B = large agriculture time of use rate, with seasonal pricing differences.
Files ending in " zipcode" contain zipcodes.
Files ending in " zipcode cost" contain both electricity costs and zip codes.
