Partnership Strategy Released

In May 2014, BLM Director Neil Kornze, signed the BLM's National Strategy and Implementation Plan to Support and Enhance Partnerships, 2014-2018. Developed in cooperation with BLM partner organizations and stakeholders -- who contributed ideas and suggestions -- this first-ever strategy and plan creates a national framework for improved coordination and support of partnerships across the BLM.

2013 "Partners in Conservation" Awards for Three BLM Partnerships

On January 16, 2014, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell presented prestigious Secretarial "Partners in Conservation" Awards to three outstanding BLM-coordinated partnerships in recognition of their collaborative achievements in the field of conservation. The winners include:

Cienega Watershed Partnership, Arizona
University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Bootstraps Program, Nevada
Intergovernmental Internship Cooperative, Utah

BLM Partnerships

The BLM has long depended on working with others, through partnerships, to enhance public lands and to carry out its multiple-use mission. Meaningful engagement with diverse partners helps ensure that management decisions and efforts reflect the interests of affected communities while accomplishing shared or complimentary goals. Working with partners also helps improve rangeland health, guard fragile biological and cultural resources, support a wide range of recreational, educational, and interpretive activities, and tackle other stewardship goals.

The BLM’s partnerships program seeks to advance, strengthen, and support the use of partnerships nationally to improve the management, stewardship, and public enjoyment of the nation’s public lands.
