Energy efficiency and air regulation
Improving energy efficiency can help reduce air emissions and ensure compliance with EPA regulations while saving money at the same time. ENERGY STAR resources can help your facilities meet these new regulatory obligations. To learn more about the opportunities and benefits ENERGY STAR and energy efficiency can bring to your facilities, please view the links below.
EPA boiler rules
New EPA regulations for industrial, commercial, and institutional boilers encourage energy efficiency measures to help reduce hazardous air pollutants.
Clean Air Act greenhouse gas permitting
Under the Prevention of Significant Determination (PSD) and the title V operating permitting program, some large facilities may be required to control greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. For some sites, energy efficiency may be a strategy for controlling GHG emissions.
ENERGY STAR technical guidance on energy efficiency measures can assist facilities in controlling their greenhouse gas emissions for the cement, pulp and paper, iron and steel, and refining industries, as well as for large industrial/commercial/institutional boilers.
