Grantee: Indian Township Passamaquoddy Development Agency
Project Description: The goal of the Indian Township Passamaquoddy Development Agency project is to increase the production, marketing and distribution of their locally harvested maple syrup. The Value-Added Processing (VAP) is an initiative lead by Indian Township and in partnership with the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point. This will focus on production of maple syrup for wholesale distribution. Value-Added Processing (VAP), the focus of this project, will add bottling, candies, creams, and other value-added products for retail/wholesale distribution to the product mix. Processing bulk syrup and bottling it in small containers can yield up to $120 per gallon, more than three times that of wholesale bulk syrup sales.
