BLM cares for wild horses at the Boise Wild Horse Corrals while they await adoption or return to the range.

Boise Wild Horse Corrals

The BLM Boise District Wild Horse Corrals are situated on a 20-acre bluff just south of Boise. Here, the BLM cares for over 150 horses and a few burros in over 101,000 square feet of corral space. Of those, close to 90 horses are currently available for adoption. The Corrals are managed by the Boise District Wild Horse and Burro Specialist and currently hold wild horses gathered from Idaho’s Black Mountain, Hardtrigger, and Sands Basin Herd Management Areas following the 2015 Soda Fire. Most of these horses will return to the range once it recovers and the rehabilitation objectives have been met. Opportunities to view or adopt these horses are made by calling the Boise District Wild Horse Specialist at 208-384-3300 to set up an appointment.

Directions to the BLM Boise District Wild Horse Corrals: From I-84, exit on Orchard Street (Exit 52) and go south for approximately 1.7 miles, which turns into West Gowen Road. Continue for 0.5 mile. Turn right (south) on Pleasant Valley Road and go approximately 4 miles. Turn right at the “Wild Horse Corrals.”
