The National Technical Information Service serves as the largest central resource for government-funded scientific, technical, engineering, and business related information available today. For more than 60 years NTIS has assured businesses, universities, and the public timely access to approximately 3 million publications covering over 350 subject areas.

Our mission supports the Department of Commerce mission to promote the nation's economic growth by providing access to information that stimulates innovation and discovery.

NTIS Mission

The National Technical Information Service seeks to promote American innovation and economic growth by collecting and disseminating scientific, technical and engineering information to the public and industry, by providing information management solutions to other federal agencies, and by doing all without appropriated funding.

NTIS Vision

The vision of the National Technical Information Service is to ensure easy and perpetual availability of the most comprehensive collection of Federally-funded scientific, technical and engineering information in support of the nation's economic growth and job creation by promoting scientific research and technology transfer to the public and to industry. In addition, we seek to improve the information management and dissemination of federal information by providing information management solutions and services to other federal agencies. We will provide this public good at a high level of quality and on a self-sustaining basis.
