ILAB has been working to eliminate the worst forms of child labor since 1993 through research, policy engagement and technical cooperation. We are the world’s largest funder of projects to combat child labor globally.
Standing Up for Workers
ILAB is an important part of the U.S. government’s efforts to stand up for American workers. We use all available tools – including negotiating strong labor provisions in our trade agreements and preference programs, monitoring for compliance, enforcing commitments, and sharing technical expertise – to ensure that U.S. trade partners fulfill their promises and play by the rules, and that American workers can compete on a level playing field.
Diplomacy & Engagement
ILAB is engaging in unprecedented bilateral and multilateral diplomatic efforts to advance workers’ rights and promote employment policies to help make global growth more inclusive.
