Development of Cellular Therapies for Treatment/Mitigation of Radiation-Induced Injuries Following a Radiological or Nuclear Incident

Request for Applications—proposed FY 2018 initiative

Contact: Carmen Rios

Objective: This initiative will address gaps and accelerate the research and development of cellular therapy countermeasures against radiation injury.

Description: This initiative will support the research and development of cellular therapies to study their potential use to mitigate and/or treat radiation injuries to different organ systems. The program seeks early to mid-stage research to elucidate mechanisms of action and other studies needed for eventual FDA approval of the candidate cellular therapies under the Animal Rule licensure pathway. This funding opportunity announcement will be specific for the types of radiation injuries that would be anticipated following a radiological or nuclear incident.
