2016 California Building Standards Code Effective DatesJanuary 1, 2017 is the statewide effective date, established by the California Building Standards Commission (CBSC), for the 2016 California Building Standards Code. All applications for a building permit that occur on or after January 1, 2017 are subject to compliance with the 2016 Code. The 2013 California Building Standards Code remains in effect and is applicable to all plans and specifications, for, and to the construction performed where the application for a building permit is received on or before December 31, 2016. More information on the 2016 Building Standards Codes, effective date, amendment by local ordinance, or purchasing the building standards. More information regarding the 2016 Building Standards Codes as it applies to state owned, state leased or state occupied buildings. |

Adoption of 2016 edition of NFPA 2 for the 2016 California fire codeThe 2016 California Fire Code (CFC) adopts by reference the 2016 Edition of National Fire Protection Association 2 (NFPA 2 Hydrogen Technologies Code). Local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) may consider using the 2016 edition of NFPA 2 on a case-by-case basis (in accordance the alternate means and methods of construction provisions contained in CFC Section 1.11.2.4 and 104.11 for permitting and installation of hydrogen facilities) Click here |

Guidelines for Log Storage Areas Due to Tree MortalityThe tree mortality epidemic in California has significantly increased the risk of wildfires and life safety risk from falling trees. Governor Brown has issued a Proclamation of a State of Emergency to advance the removal of the dead trees and mitigate the hazard.
