On Monday, February 13, 2012, U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu will host a media briefing on the Energy Department’s Fiscal Year 2013 Budget Request, outlining the proposed investments in an all-of-the-above energy strategy that includes critical innovation, in the job-creating clean energy technologies, and in our national security strategy.

Building on President Obama’s State of the Union address in which he discussed the Obama Administration’s commitment to supporting innovation and American companies, U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu will announce the three winning startup companies – based on a public vote and an expert review – out of the 14 participating in the “America’s Next Top Energy Innovator” challenge during a conference call.

As part of the Energy Department’s ongoing efforts to highlight President Obama’s State of the Union address and discuss the Obama Administration’s commitment to American energy resources and innovation, U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu will headline a groundbreaking ceremony for Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s new Computational Research and Theory Facility, a cutting-edge supercomputing facility. Secretary Chu will also host a State of the Union Town Hall and take questions from students and faculty at San Francisco State University.

As part of the Energy Department’s ongoing efforts to highlight President Obama’s State of the Union address and discuss the Obama Administration’s commitment to American energy resources and innovation, Acting Under Secretary of Energy Arun Majumdar will participate in a roundtable discussion with clean technology businesses.
