FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. (NNS) -- U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. 10th Fleet (FCC/C10F) announced its 2015 sea and shore Sailors of the Year (SOY) Feb. 24.

Vice Adm. Jan E. Tighe, commander FCC/C10F, announced Cryptologic Technician (Technical) 1st Class (NAC/IDW/AW) Courtney P. Evers, assigned to Navy Information Operations Det. (NIOD) Kaneohe Bay, as the sea SOY and Information Systems Technician 1st Class (IDW/SW/AW) Blake L. Wilson, assigned to Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific (NCTAMS PAC), as the shore SOY.

"I am very proud of all the Sailors that competed and especially proud of the two selected," said Command Master Chief Jon Taylor, the command master chief of FCC/C10F. "They represent the best of the best that Fleet Cyber Command has to offer."

The winners were chosen from a group of 10 Sailors representing various commands from throughout Fleet Cyber Command's worldwide operational forces.

"This selection is such an incredible honor," said Evers. "To me, this means my small command at NIOD Kaneohe Bay is getting the outstanding recognition that they deserve."

Evers and Wilson said they were grateful for the experience and are looking forward to the challenge ahead.

"This is uncharted waters for me and most of my peers," said Wilson. "The buzz around NCTAMS PAC, regarding this selection, is incredible and everyone is excited for me and experiencing this vicariously through me."

Both Sailors will represent FCC/C10F as they continue to compete in the next level of SOY competitions, with the ultimate goal of a meritorious advancement to chief petty officer.

U.S. Fleet Cyber Command serves as the Navy component command to U.S. Strategic Command and U.S. Cyber Command, and the Navy's Service Cryptologic Component commander under the National Security Agency/Central Security Service.
