Pre-Employment Background Checks for Commercial Drivers

You can find the regulations for background investigations of commercial drivers who are potential employees in 49 CFR 391.23.

See 391.23(c) for information on what to do if a former employer does not respond to requests for a driver's history.

More regulations concerning qualifications of drivers can be found elsewhere in part 391.
